Floods in Loikaw: Surge of Belu Creek caused inundation in Loikaw

Water level of Belu Creek has surged due to the impact of Typhoon Yagi, causing inundation in some wards of Loikaw Township in Kayah State.

The affected persons have been evacuated to the safer places. On Friday, Chief Minister U Zaw Myo Tin and officials oversaw the relief measures, and provided the needs for durability of retaining wall and prevention measures.

The floods also forced to close Namt Kut Branch High School, and plans are underway to accommodate students to join other schools for constant learning. The temporary relief camp was set up at the Border Area National Races Youths Development Training School, with relief measures are in place.
