Heavy rains across Venezuela left floods, landslides and many houses damaged by a westbound tropical storm that the National Institute of Meteorology said is affecting most of the country.

Anderson Silva, one of the residents that stood outside the apartments, said a contention wall broke after days of heavy rain. Silva and his partner, Isabel Peña, rushed into the house to grab the few things they could, fearing the rest of the building to collapse.

The storm is now a tropical depression with highway probability of becoming a hurricane, according to the Meteorology Institute. In Falcón state a river overflowed leaving dozens of houses damaged by water.
