Floods in Kayin State: Thanlwin River surged to the record high water level

Due to torrential rain, Kayin State experiences the record high of Thanlwin River with over 200 centimetres above its danger level.

On Sunday morning, Chief Minister U Saw Myint Oo inspected the condition of inundation in Pa-an and provided necessary assistance to the affected residents. Low lying areas have been inundated and residents were evacuated to the temporary relief camps, being set up at the Traditional Medicine Hospital and Hlar Kamyin Branch Middle School.

Local authorities provide assistance including foodstuff and health care services. Those remain in their houses were also provided with convenient arrangements. As of July 28th, 50 relief camps have been set up in Pa-an, Hlaing Bwe, Kawkareik, Kyar Inn Seikkyi, Myawady and Kamamaung, providing shelter to more than 17,000 affected people.
