A county in northern China's Shanxi Province saw its heaviest rainfall this year, leaving at least five people missing, damaging roads and inundating farmlands.
Chinese state media said six highway construction workers were swept away by a landslide from a construction site. One was later rescued and the search for the other five continues.
The rainfall started in Zhongyang County on Wednesday night and continued until Thursday with a cumulative rainfall of over 20 centimeters. Heavy rainfall hit multiple counties in western Shanxi Province this week.
Meteorologists forecast the rain will sweep the area again in the coming days and the provincial meteorological bureau issued a warning for landslides.
