Floods hit Jakarta and Cisarua areas

Massive flooding that hit Jakarta on March 3rd, was caused by the overflowing of the Ciliwung River, triggered by heavy rain since Sunday, March 2nd .

The Disaster Agency of Jakarta reported that water levels in some parts of Jakarta reached as high as 1.5 meters. The height of the water varied from one neighborhood to another. The flood inundated 11 neighborhoods in South Jakarta.

In addition, massive flooding also hit Bogor in West Java province, triggered by heavy rain since Sunday. This flooding caused several houses to collapse, and a number of vehicles were swept away by the floodwaters. Head of the Search and Rescue Agency (SAR), reported that one local village from Citeko, Cisarua, was missing. Massive flooding has also affected Tugu Selatan Village in Cisarua. Heavy rain, coupled with the overflowing river, has damaged several houses in the area.
