Floods in Bago: Over 18,000 residents evacuated to the relief camps

Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win inspected the condition of floods in Bago on Sunday and provided necessary assistance.

Locals in Myothit (Nga) and Kyauk Kyi Su Wards were evacuated while convenience arrangements are being provided for those remains in the households. Kyauk Kyi Su Dam has been reinforced with sand bags to prevent further floods.

The Flood Relief Camp has been set up at No.1 Basic Education High School and the affected residents were provided with foodstuff, while health care services are being provided to the elder persons. Sand bag barriers have also been set up at Nyaung Wai Street and Pan Hlaing embankment, with close monitoring for flood condition.

Due to the heavy rain that triggers the surge of Bago River, over 18,000 residents were evacuated to the safer places. As of Sunday afternoon, 27 flood relief camps have been set up in Bago Region, with provision assisted by the local government.
