Floods in Bago: Chief Minister makes inspections, provides foods

Due to the heavy rainfall in Bago, the water level of the Bago River has exceeded the hazardous mark (880 centimeters).

This has led to water inundation in the lower areas of Bago township. On Thursday afternoon, Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win together with concerned officials visited the flood relief camp in the compound of the

Su Taung Pyae Taw Gyi Monastery, gave words of encouragement to flood-affected people and provided basic foodstuffs including rice, cooking oil, eggs, drinking water and instant noodle.

And, the Chief Minister inspected the flood-affected Kyauk Kyi Su  Ward and coordinated with concerned officials to provide foods free of charge and transportation by boats.

The Chief Minister also inspected preparations to provide foods at the Pon Nya Ku Ta La  Mya Chan Tha Community Hall. He also visited flood relief camps, held talks with flood-affected people and provided basic foodstuffs.

Since the night of the 8th of August, heavy rains have hit Bago Township, affecting over 12,000 people. Opening 29 temporary flood relief camps in the area, officials are taking care of the flood-affected people, providing healthcare services and foods.
