Flooding in Bago: Overs 20 temporary flood relief camps opened

Due to the heavy rainfall in Bago, the water level of the Bago River has exceeded the hazardous mark at 1004 centimeters. This has led to water inundation in the lower areas of 12 wards and 3 villages.

Local people from flood-affected areas were evacuated to near schools, monasteries and prayer halls facilitated by Tatmadaw men, members of fire brigade, members of Red Cross and militia groups. Since the afternoon of the 8th of October, heavy rain have hit the Bago Township and affecting over 5,000 people. 

Opening more than 20 temporary flood relief camps in the area and the Bago Region Government provided basic food stuffs including rice, cooking oil, eggs, drinking water, instant noodles, meat and vegetables to the flood-affected people.
