Flood survivor returns to destroyed home after Indonesia's deadly floods

At least 502 people have died and 508 remain missing following floods and landslides in North Sumatra, Indonesia. Homes and infrastructure were heavily damaged, leaving many residents displaced. Flood survivor Rosmina waded through knee-deep mud to assess the destruction to her home.

Residents described sudden surges of water that forced families to flee quickly. The disaster has disrupted daily life, including access to schools and essential services. Local authorities have begun rescue and recovery operations, while the government is coordinating relief efforts. Communities are appealing for faster assistance to rebuild homes and restore normal life.
