Flood relief and rescue operations continue in Pakistan

Authorities in Pakistan say relief and rescue operations continued on Thursday with troops and volunteers using helicopters and boats to get stranded people out of flooded areas and into relief camps.

People at the camps are being provided with shelter, food and health care. Pakistani army boats are rescuing stranded people and transporting them to safer places in Sindh's Jamshoro district after a recent break in the embankment of Manchar Lake.

Army officials said on Thursday that personnel have rescued more than 620 people in the Jamshoro district with 18 boats.
