Flood Prevention Measures: MOALI Deputy Minister inspects strength of embankment

Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation U Bo Bo Kyaw conducted a field inspection of the 73-mile-long Nga Wun Embankment and the flood prevention measures in Yay Kyi, Thabaung, Hinthada, and LayMyatHnar Townships on July 18th and 19th. 

The Deputy Minister is currently in the Ayeyarwaddy Region to assess the strength of dams and monitor flood prevention efforts due to rising river water levels. During the inspection, he reviewed emergency protection activities, water checkpoints, collection of emergency supplies and the employment of labourers.

The Deputy Minister also checked the condition of heavy machinery to ensure readiness for flood prevention, called on relevant departments for coordination and provided supplies. Subsequently, the Deputy Minister and officials discussed the issues related to annual erosion of the Ayeyarwaddy River, riverbank landslides and the long-term maintenance of dams at the Hinthada Township Department of Irrigation and Water Management.
