Flash Flood: Heavy rain triggered floods in Nay Pyi Taw

Flash Flood occurred in creeks and drains in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area on 24th of August due to the torrential rain. Since some housings near the said area were flooded, relevant administrative organization and social welfare organizations are carrying out the rescue works.

On Saturday, Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung accompanied by Deputy Minister U Bo BoKyaw and departmental officials inspected water flow along Nga Laik and SinThay Creeks and condition of flood in some residential areas near the creeks. Torrential rain on Saturday triggered a large amount of water flow into the creeks including SinThay in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory.

The major dams in Nay Pyi Taw area including Nga Laikdam have not reach their brim points. PaungLaung Dam reached its brim point and diverted from spillway to Sittaung River as usual. Authorities ensured that the strength of the all dams in Nay Pyi Taw Council area, and public are advised not to get panic.
