First-ever Underpass: Construction Tasks Have Completed 85%

The construction work of pedestrian underpass on Pyay Road inKamayut Township has completed 85%.

The construction task was started in February 2020 and now the archway of escalator on the Junction Square side is under construction and the other parts are under finishing tasks.

It is the first-ever pedestrian underpass in Myanmar and is a reinforced concrete type. The main underpass is over 427-ft in length, 11-ft in height and 40 ft in width. The walkway inside the underpass is over 19-ft wide and it’s expected to pass about 6,000 people per hour.

It is equipped with 15 international standard shops with 10 sq ft. The underpass has three escalators for pedestrians and 2 escalators for the disabled.
The slope of underpassis set at 30 degree for the convenience of the people.

It is constructed by Yangon City Development Committee and it’s expected to be completed by the end of January 2021, it’s learnt.
