China on Tuesday opened the country's first public-private partnership (PPP) electric power carbon emission peak and neutrality management center in the northern city of Tianjin.
The center will incorporate big data from the government, enterprises and research institutes, and compile data related to the production capacity, output value and pollution on the part of enterprises. With these incorporated data, the center will be able to calculate enterprises' carbon emissions from electricity use.
The center will also provide services including carbon emission verification and corporate carbon emission reduction consultation to help government agencies and enterprises to better manage their carbon emission. More than 20,000 enterprises from 19 industries including manufacturing, wholesale, retail and real estate have registered with the center.
China has announced that it will peak carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
