The condensed milk factory can be operated by the bio gas produced from cow dung in Magyi Kan village, Magway region and it is also used in cooking at the households.
The method of making bio gas is to mix proportionately the cow dung and water and then the mixture is dried in the sun. As the biogas digester tank in Magyikan village is 200 cubic feet, it can be used in cooking at the homes from 4 to 5 hours and also operated a condensed milk factory in the village.
Dr Tin Hsan, Pro-rector, Technological University (Magway) said "For producing bio gas, we mix proportionately cow dung and water. We put the mixture for 21 to 30 days for the digestion. After 30 days, we add the mixture daily to produce the gas. The produced output through the outlet is dried on the concrete slabs. We expect that the bio gas made from the cow dung can be used in cooking for 4 to 5 hours a day. We can also use in the condensed milk factory."
By using bio gas, it can reduce electric power consumption and cost as well as the cow dung that have been used in producing bio gas can be used again as the fertilizer for the plants.
Nyunt Wai, Condensed Milk Factory, Magyi Kan village said "We took about one month to make bio gas stove. But it is convenient for the condensed milk factory so that we no need to worry about the lack of electricity to condense the milk."
As the cow dung is used for producing bio gas, Magway Region has extended the numbers of breeding cows from 1.4 million to 1.6 million. By using bio gas, the output and by products can be used as the substitution of fire-woods.
So, it can prevent forest depletion and also support conservation of forests. Producing bio gas in Magway region will be implemented in 25 townships during this fiscal year. Currently, the program has been initially implemented in Than Bo and Magyi Kan villages in Magway Township.
