Firefighters battle fierce flames

Firefighters continued to battle an out-of-control wildfire centred around Bejís in Castellón, Valencia, on Thursday.

Over the last few days, more than 13,000 hectares have been burnt and the fire’s perimeter measured 120 kilometres, according to emergency officials. So far this summer, wildfires in Spain have blackened more than 700,000 hectares, the largest area since the European Union started collecting satellite data in 2006.
