Final rites event :Cremation of the remains of late BhamoSayadaw

The final rites event of late BhamoSayadaw is held from 4th to 6th June and cremation of the remains of the Sayadaw is held at the Chan Myathazi airfield in Mandalay on 6 June evening.

The final rites of the late Sayadaw was held at the KanbawzaSasanaBeikman in Bhamo monastery starting 2 pm today and then the remains of the late Sayadawwas conveyed to Chanmyathazi airfield for cremation by decorated float.

BhamoSayadaw.DrBhaddanta Kumara Bhivamsa, Chairman of the State SanghaMahaNayaka Committee, 94 years old, vasa 74, peacefully passed away at Bhamo Monastery in MahaAungMyay Township in Mandalay on 25 May.Sayadaw was born to parents U Po Thit and Daw Aye Thaik in Yabe Village in Taungtha Township of Myingyan District in Mandalay Region.BhamoSayadaw served religious duties with concerted efforts while residing in Bhamo monastery when he was alive and he also wrote many religious treatises.

Sayadaw was offered AggaMahaPandita , AggaMahaGanthavacakaPandita , AbhidhajaMahaRattha Guru and AbhidhajaAggaMahaSaddhammaJotika titles as well as D Litt by the State PariyattiSasana Universities management central committee, Yangon University and Sehan University of Korea. Sayadaw served as Chairman of the State SanghaMahaNayaka Committee-SSMNC as well as had served duties of Pro-Rector at the International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University.

The drifting ceremony of relics of the late Sayadaw will also be held on 7th June and the event will be  broadcast live on MRTV HD Channel, MRTV Farmers’ Channel, MRTV Parliament Channel, MWD HD Channel, MWD Variety HD Channel, Maha Bodhi Channel and Buddha Channel starting 5:30 a.m of tomorrow morning.
