Film Industry: Union Minister Visited Qingdao Oriental Movie Metropolis

A Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Information Dr. Pe Myint visited Qingdao Oriental Movie Metropolis Shangdong Province, China, on Tuesday.

At the movie metropolis, the delegation observed settings including for Space Ship, under water shootings, outdoor shootings at the studios. During the visit to Digital Lab, they visited sound editing and enjoyed the 3-D 270 Degree film at the Qingdao Sunac Movie Park. They also visited the Movie Market, Skate Park and playgrounds.
In the evening, Union Minister Dr. Pe Myint and party left Qingdao by flight to Beijing. The Qingdao Oriental Movie Metropolis is established on 410 acres of land and 30 modern studios have been constructed since 2013 in the metropolis.

Ten are under construction and over 50 studios are targeted to be established in the oriental movie metropolis. The completed studios were inaugurated on 28 April, 2018, and one of the studios is the world’s largest studio pavilion (10,000 square meters) including a permanent underwater stage.

Outdoor stage of the studio pavilion is 60 hectare wide and it includes factories which produce shooting equipment and clothes and edition services. The Oriental Movie Metropolis signed agreements with nine prominent companies from the United States of the America to produce 11 movies.

It is described as the “Movie Metropolis of the East” or “Hollywood of the East”, and is the biggest movie production complex in the world, featuring some of the world’s largest and most technologically-advanced facilities.

The Oriental Movie Metropolis is also the home to a film museum, movie theaters, shopping mall, resort hotels, parks and international schools. The establishment of the movie metropolis has benefited the China’s movie quality, international relations and tourism.
