Fight against Drugs: Int’l Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

Shan State Government held a painting, cartoon and poster competition on Wednesday to mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Chief Minister U Aung Zaw Aye and party visited the competition at the No. 2 Basic Education High School in Taunggyi Township.

164 high, middle and basic education students participated in this painting, cartoon and poster competition.

There, the Chief Minister also handed over cash aid provided by the Shan State Government for the fight against drugs. The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is a United Nations International Day against drug abuse and the illegal drug trade. It is observed annually on 26 June, since 1989. The observance was instituted by General Assembly Resolution 42/112 of 7 December 1987.
