During the COVID-19 outbreak, there were many difficulties in exporting to China, but the chaste tree seed fetches handsome price this year due to the higher demand from China, it’s learnt.

The chaste tree, which grows in the central region of Myanmar, started yielding in September and producing abundantly in October until November.

The chaste tree seed was sold for 3,000 kyats per viss at Mandalay market last year, but this year, the Chinese traders are buying the seeds with 5,500 kyats to 6,000 kyats per viss.

Although the seeds are not used widely in local, they are using in the production of pharmacy and cosmetics in combination with modern technology in abroad.
