Fetching amazing price : Plum seed price in dramatic increase

In Mandalay market, the price of plum seeds is on the rise with 70,000 kyats per viss in the last week of August on China’s high demand.

Soe Win Myint said " The plum seeds are produced from fruits through grinding process. Due to the great demand from China, the price of plum seeds has been increasing exponentially. Although the plum seeds price fetches only 34,000 kyats per viss in the month of Tabaung, the price has been in dramatic increase with 70,000 kyats per viss in August."

At present, plum seeds price is amazingly fetching its first-ever price hike due to increase in China’s demand.

Plum seeds are exported from the townships such as Pakokku , Poppa, Chauk, Yenanchaung, Magway and Monywa. Also, sour plum seeds are crushed in various grinders of the upper region of Myanmar such as Kawlin and Wuntho.

Sour plum has been designated as a valuable and useful species since 2021.

Sour plum plants have a sprawling growth habit. If they are properly cultivated in the systematic way as sugar plums, it can enhance the local residents’ income of Anyar Region.

Plum seeds are mostly exported from regions such as Mandalay, Sagaing, and Magway, it’s reported.
