Festive Occasion: Buddhists celebrate Tazaungdaing Lighting Festival

Buddhist devotees celebrate Tazaungdaing Festival on the Full Moon Day of Tazaungmone on Friday. Being a significant religious occasion, the devotees take Sabbath, recite religious verses, offer Kathina robes and perform meritorious deeds.

At Shwe Phone Pwing Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw Zeyathiri Township, 1,000 oil lamps offering ceremony was held in the evening. Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife, Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice Senior General Soe Win and wife, Chief of Staff (Army, Navy, Air) General Maung Maung Aye and wife, senior military officers from the Commander-in-Chief Office, union level personnel and their wives participated in the lighting festival.

Likewise, colourful lights are illuminated in the compound of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) Office.
