The Good Old Days Festival here at Barellan, about four hours west of Canberra, celebrates Australia’s agricultural history. This year, though a group of horse drawn wagon drivers, known as Teamsters has made history, setting a new record for the most number of heavy horses in harness to pull a wagon. It took about two hours to hitch the team of 60 Clydesdales, Australian Draught and Suffolk Punch horses together.

And after a small false start, they set off for a lap around the arena, to the delight of the crowd. It smashed the previous record set by a horse team in Canada in 1995 of 50 and the Australian record of 50 horses set in Queensland in the 1980s. This attempt took a year to plan and involved bringing together horses from 4 different teams.
