The 43rd meeting of the Fertilizer Committee was held at the Union Government Office of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation, on 2nd December. The meeting was attended by the Committee Chairman Deputy Minister Dr. Tin Htut, Committee members and Fertilizer experts. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and work on effectively managing the registration, import, production, and distribution of fertilizers.
During the meeting, theCommittee Chairman Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of supporting agricultural sector development. He highlighted that the committee ensures that high-quality fertilizers that meet the required standards are made available for farmers to use. He also mentioned that the committee oversees the issuance of fertilizer production and import permits in accordance with the Fertilizer Law and by-laws.
He urged the committee members to discuss and propose ways to improve the process of ensuring the timely availability of high-quality fertilizers at the reasonable prices, and to ensure that farmers can use them during the right season. He encouraged a collaborative discussion on how to improve the fertilizer sector in the meeting.
Additionally, the Committee Secretary provided updates on the fertilizer production and import registration applications reviewed by the technical team. The committee members discussed and evaluated the applications according to their respective sectors.
To ensure that farmers have access to quality fertilizer on time, meetings are held every three months. In this 43rd meeting, 300 fertilizer production and import registration applications were reviewed. Following the standard procedures of the Fertilizer Committee, 11,996 fertilizer registration certificates had been approved until the 42nd meeting. However, due to cancellations and expirations, as of today, there are 7,116 active fertilizer registration certificates in use for ongoing operations.
