Female student in Tokyo held after injuring 8 with hammer in university campus. Tokyo police have arrested a female student on suspicion of attacking eight people with a hammer on a university campus. 

A staff member at Hosei University’s Tama Campus, which is located in the city of Machida, made an emergency call on Friday afternoon.

The individual reported that a student wielding a hammer had injured some people. 

The Metropolitan Police Department says eight students who were in a classroom received blows to the head or body. It added that their injuries are not life-threatening. 

The 22-year-old suspect belongs to the Faculty of Social Sciences. She reportedly told the police that she became frustrated when a group of students ignored her, and that she carried out the attack with a hammer she found on campus.
