Hundreds of federal police forces arrived in Rosario, Argentina, where drug violence has drawn international attention due to a recent threat against soccer star Lionel Messi.

For many residents who are under threat of drug dealers, the security forces come as relief but fear that they will leave soon, and would find themselves on their own again facing the violence.President Alberto Fernández vowed to increase the number of national security forces to the port city to 1,400.Local authorities estimate this would double the number of troopers currently in the city.Army engineers also will be sent to help build infrastructure for impoverished neighborhoods.
