Father of US woman murdered in Costa Rica demands culprits to be found, punished

The father of Carla Stefaniak demanded on Wednesday that the culprits for his daughter's murder are found and punished with the full weight of the law. his daughter is the Florida woman who went missing a week ago while vacationing in Costa Rica to celebrate her 36th birthday.

On Monday, police found a partially-buried body covered in plastic bags in the woods near the San Jose. Investigators say they also discovered what looked like blood in her room. After analyzing surveillance video, police detained the building's security guard, 32-year-old Bismarck Espinoza Martinez, a Nicaraguan national. He was taken into custody after investigators reportedly noticed inconsistencies in his statements.

Officials say Martinez is being held in jail because he's considered a flight risk.
