Farmland Compensation: More than K6.6 billion paid for 125.6 acres of farmland

The compensation for farmlands used in the Kyauktan (1) and (2) dam project was provided at the Kyaukphyu District General Administration Department in Maday Island of Kyaukphyu Township in Rakhine State on January 8.

Rakhine State Minister for Natural Resources U Myint Soe attended  the ceremony and made a speech, together with relevant officials and local farmers. In his speech, the State Minister said the compensation rates were reasonable based on current market prices and thanked farmers for contributing land to the national project. More than 6.6 billion kyats were paid for 125.6 acres of farmland owned by 55 local farmers.

During the event, the project benefits, land management and compensation procedures were also discussed, followed by a question and answer session. On January 9, the state minister and officials inspected the Kyauktan dam construction site and coordinated the needs.
