Fake News: Fabricated claims of extortion and Naval Base desertion

Rumors circulating on social media platforms allege that villages in the eastern part of the Bago Region are being forced to pay 2,000 kyats per household in support of the people's militia on November 24th by the Administrative bodies. The rumors further suggest that locals in these areas are being pressured through various means to contribute money.

In response to these claims, officials from the Bago Region Administration Body have denied the allegations, asserting that this news is fabricated and exploits the innocent minds of local residents, leading to misunderstandings. 

In another instance of misinformation, a separate fake news report claimed that 17 members from the Thanlyin Naval Base have deserted, taking weapons with them. Naval Base sources have refuted this claim, confirming that there have been no desertions from the naval unit.

Instead, they allege that fabricated news is being deliberately spread to sow discord among the Tatmadaw members, their families, and the public, with the malicious intent of harming the unity and harmony within the Tatmadaw.
