Fake News: Disinformation on incident in Buthidaung and Bago

Fake news on social media alleged that Tatmadaw artillery fired at Pale Taung Village, Buthidaung in Rakhine State on 23rd January exploded, leaving 3 people death and 8 others injuries. According to the ground security officials, the true incidents is that AA terrorists fired artillerieson villages in Buthidaung Township on that day, resulting in the explosion in the village.
Similarly, the false information on social media alleged that Tatmadaw fired artillery at villages in Kyaukkyi Township of Bago Region on 21st January, injuring 3 individuals from Phoe Inn Kone of Lain Pin Wel village, and Warchel village. The explosion also caused fire outbreak and destroyed 4 houses.
Regarding the fake news, it is found that, drop bomb and heavy weapons attacks by terrorists resulted the explosions in the villages and injuring local residents. To divert attention on the terrorist acts of the insurgents and to create misunderstanding on the security forces, the illegal destructive media outlets are disseminating the fabricated news.
