Failed Attacks: AA, TNLA, MNDAA Destroyed Bridges

AA, TNLA, MNDAA armed groups planted mines and destroyed the bridges in Naung Cho, Theinni and Kun Lon Townships in Shan State (North), according to the information released by the Office of Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services. On 17th August, the AA TNLA and MNDAA armed groups exploded mines on 31st mile-post concrete bridge at the entrance of Nar Tee village on Lashio-Theinni-Kun Lon Union Highway at about 5:00 pm.

As a result, the bridge was destroyed and the transportation was cut off. Again on the 18th, about 150 members of armed groups attacked with heavy weapons to three places in the south-west of Kutkai at about 10:00 am.

The Tatmadaw columns responded those attacks and the armed groups were defeated with many losses. While conducting the security measures along Lashio-Kutkai-Namt Phet Kar-Muse and Theinni-Kunlon Union Highway, the Tatmadaw columns clashed with the armed groups for 4 times.

            On the 15th, AA, TNLA and MNDAA armed groups opened fires on Defence Services Technological Academy in PyinOoLwin, PyinOoLwin tollgate towards Naung Cho, Gote Twin police station in Naung Cho Township of Shan State (North), Naung Cho Toll-gate towards Kyaukme, narcotics-drug inspection gate, local battalion headquarters with small arms and heavy weapons at about 5.30 am.

Those attacks killed two innocent civilians and three policemen while  injuring 13 innocent civilians and two policemen.

            17 small arms of the police force, 6 cartridges, 1,312 ammunitions, one drug detector, one chemical tester, four walkie talkies were lost, three vehicles were burned down in the incident. The floor of Gottwin bridge was damaged because of mine explosion and the transportation halted.

The Tatmadaw columns immediately reinforced to Gottwin police post, Naung Cho toll gate and Asia World toll gate. During the land clearing operation, the Tatmadaw found six Type-63 107-MM RPGs which were attached with the battery and wires on the hill, the east side of PyinOo Lwin-Lashio highway.

Moreover, they found another battery and preparations to launch rocket attacks in  different locations by AA, TNLA and MNDAA armed groups. On that day, the Tatmadaw columns also clashed with those armed groups at Naung Cho drug inspection gate and Gottwin police post.

            Previously on the 25th July this year, the narcotic-drugs worth more than 16 billion kyats as well as opium refineries and related materials were seized nearby Shauk Haw village in Kut Kai Township. Again on 8th August, the narcotic-drugs worth about 5 billion kyats, ammunitions and related materials were seized in Yat Khon Taing village, Rathae Taung Township, Rakhine State.

It was assumed that AA,TNLA and MNDAA armed groups were discontent for their losses during the drug seizures and in return they committed those terrorist acts, according to the information released by Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and Myammar Police Force on 15th August.

The Tatmadaw columns are conducting security measures to restore peace and stability while rebuilding the destroyed bridges to resume the traffic flow.
