






Over 1500 tons of honey worth over 2.3 million USD has been exported to Korea, Japan, United States, Singapore, China Taipei and Thailand in this fiscal year, according to the official from the Livestock, Breeding and Veterinary Department (LBVD).
Deputy Director, Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department, Beekeeping Development section, Myo Tin, said " We can say that over 1,500 tons of honeys worth over 2.3 million USD have been exported to abroad from April to February in 2022-2023 fiscal year. The main production areas of honey are Upper Sagaing Region, Shan State (North) and (South), in the middle of Mandalay Region, Magway Region and Bago Region."
The honey exporting companies bought the raw honey in the field of beekeeping (apiculture). And then, the buyer sends the raw honey to the honey purification factories in Yangon. There are four honey purification factories including one owned by the department other 3 owned by companies. After purifying, the honey was conducted laboratory test at the Pale Ward in Mingalardon Township. After the test, the seller sends the result certificate and the sample of honey to the buyer. Afterwards, they sign the contract. Local demand is the most and local consumption is about 2,500 tons per year.
