Expansion of new districts: New districts expanded in Nay Pyi Taw, regions and states

The new districts in Nay Pyi Taw, regions and states were expended according to political, administrative, economic and social development.

In order to make the regional development and administration work be more smoothly as the State’s political, administrative, economic and social sectors develop, 75 districts were originally formed under Sections 54 and 248 (b) of the 2008 Constitution.

In accord with the notifications No. 319/2022 to 333/2022 were issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on 30 April to expand the 46 further districts including one in Taninthayi Region; 2 each in Nay Pyi Taw Council Are, Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin state, Sagaing, Bago, Magway, Mon, Rakhine and Ayeyarwady; four in Mandalay Region, 9 in Shan State and 10 in Yangon Region.

Therefore, as 46 districts were expanded to the original 75 districts, regional development and administrative activities will be carried out in 121 districts in total in a smooth manner.
