Evacuations begin as Indonesia volcano erupts

Indonesian authorities have begun evacuating villagers after Mount Ibu erupted in eastern Indonesia, spewing a towering column of smoke and ash into the atmosphere.

Located on the remote island of Halmahera, the volcano has erupted for a fifth time this year, prompting Indonesia’s Geological Agency to raise the volcano's alert status to the highest level.
