EU, W.Balkans sign data roaming deal in Tirana

European Union officials and Western Balkan telecommunications operators signed a deal to reduce mobile phone data roaming charges from October 2023.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen had previously announced financial support to help countries in the Western Balkans cope with the ramifications of the cost of living crisis.

EU and Western Balkans are also expected to discuss energy prices and food security in the region. The EU has earmarked one billion euros in grants to the Western Balkans, hoping the money will encourage double the investment.
