EU election passes halfway mark as Slovakia, Italy join in

Four days of voting for a new European Parliament passed the halfway point on Saturday, with Slovakia and Italy joining in.

Slovakia, shaken by last month's assassination attempt on Premier Robert Fico, saw voters rally around the ruling Smer-SD party. Most EU countries, including France and Germany, vote on Sunday, with results expected that evening. Far-right parties are predicted to make significant gains.
