The Court of Justice of the European Union on Wednesday dismissed TikTok’s appeal against new EU digital rules. In September, the EU named the social media platform TikTok among several platforms that must comply with the Digital Markets Act (DMA), a law that forces the world’s biggest companies to significantly change the way they operate.
The DMA was designed to ban the most powerful tech firms from engaging in a list of potentially anti-competitive actions. It imposes a rigid regime on firms whose practices have previously resulted in billions of euros in fines and tax orders from the EU watchdog.
