Ethnic Cultural Festival: 3-Day Festival In Mandalay To Mark The Union Day

In commemoration of the 72nd Anniversary Union Day, the Ethnic Cultural Festival was held in Mandalay on 10th February. This is the 8th time of organizing this festival. Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs Nai Thet Lwin attended the opening ceremony held at Mandala Thiri Sports Ground and gave a speech.

He said that the festival was first started in 2012 with the participation of 8 ethnic groups, and this year’s saw an increased numbers of ethnic people with 10 more races. He added that the festival could help mutual understanding among the national races and promote friendship and trust. He urged all to cooperate in building a federal union which possesses with peace, stability, rule of law, justice and equality.

 Chief Minister Dr. Zaw Myint Maung also pointed out that the traditional customs of each ethnic group can be seen in the festival, and it will help for long term co-existence of all ethnic people in the Region.

After formal opening of the ceremony, the Union Minister and party viewed the booths displayed at the festival. The festival will be held until the 12th February from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm.
