Ethnic Affairs: Forum on the Rights of ethnic people

Taninthayi Region Government organized a Forum on the Rights of Ethnic People in Dawei.

Member of the Advisory Board to the State Administration Council Dr. Salai Ngun Cung Lian discussed the facts on democracy federal system, included in the Constitution, Ethnic Rights Protection Law, the rights and responsibilities of the ethnics according to the by-laws, ethnic affairs and peace process being implemented by the government.

Deputy Minister for Ethnic Affairs U Zaw Aye Maung discussed matters on multi-party democracy general elections, the history of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) signed by the government and Ethnic Armed Organizations, contexts and benefits of NCA, rights and responsibilities of ethnic people described in the Constitution, the political history of the world and Myanmar.

Union Minister U Saw Tun Aung Myint also discussed the topics on Myanma Geo-politics, national solidarity, development and peace process as well as development of human resources, socio-economy, stability, literature and culture. The forum was held for 3 days from 8th to 10th June to support the peace process and to have more understanding on the rights of ethnic people. The forum is also scheduled to hold in Kawthoung and Myeik.
