




The opening ceremony of the ethnic representatives’ meeting (forum) aiming to strengthen the ethnic solidarity and Union spirit was organized in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday.
The ceremony was attended by Union Minister for International Cooperation U Ko Ko Hlaing, Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs U Saw Tun Aung Myint and many other officials.
There Union Minister U Saw Tun Aung Myint highlighted the holding of the two-day forum to strengthen ethnic unity, cooperation of departments and organizations, support the peace processes and peace-related matters and ensure state stability in the future.
He also added that the Union Peace Dialogue Joint Committee (UPDJC) will discuss the peacemaking processes, measures to ensure ethnic unity, ethnic affairs and NCA, ethnic unity and proper facts for peace during the two-day forum.
He also said all should discuss based on the outcomes of the discussion to accelerate in building a Union based on democracy and federalism, through a disciplined and genuine multiparty democratic system, enduring peace for the entire nation and unity.
During the first session of the first-day meeting, Union Minister U Saw Tun Aung Myint discussed the peacemaking processes phase (1) of the UPDJC while Union Minister U Ko Ko Hlaing talked about the briefed measures to strengthen the national unity.
Deputy Minister U Zaw Aye Maung focused on ethnic affairs and NCA phase (1) and SAC advisory board member Dr. Salai Andrew Ngun Cung Lian on ethnic unity of respective regions. Attendees of the meeting coordinated the discussion dividing them into three groups.
