Erosion Prevention: Retaining walls on Mann Creek’s banks in Minbu

Directorate of Water Resources and Improvement of River (DWIR) Systems (Minbu Township) implemented the Mann Creek bank erosion prevention project in U-Yin Village of Minbu Township.

To prevent damage and loss from the Mann Creek bank erosion, the steel basket retaining walls which are 450 ft long and 60 ft long were constructed to protect the houses and religious buildings of the village.

Thet Soe Htike, Assistant Director, DWIR, Minbu Township, said " We implemented the Mann Creek bank erosion prevention project by spending 145.5 million Kyats of fund in the 2022-2023 Financial Year to protect houses and religious buildings of U-Yin Village. Previously, the residents had to be worried about the water level of Mann Creek."

Although the directorate of water resources and improvement of river systems is mainly working on the development of river and water routes, they are also implementing bank erosion and landslide prevention projects.
