Eradicating Online Frauds: Efforts to combat illegal activities

Investigation efforts are accelerated to expose and extradite illegal foreign nationals who entered Myanmar illegally and engaged in online fraud and online gambling at the Myawaddy-Shwe Kokko and KK Park area.

On 2nd April, a total of 375 Chinese citizens were deported to their respective country via Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge No.2 in accordance with the laws and procedures upholding the humanitarian principles and friendly relations among nations.

From 30th January to 2nd April 2025, a total of 8,724 illegal foreign nationals were detained and 6,687 of them have already been deported to their respective countries. The rest of the detainees are in good care and ready to be deported.

The government is making collaborative efforts with the relevant communities and organizations to identify the illegal foreign nationals taking control of online scam centers while effective actions have been taken against those who engaged in unlawful acts. Likewise, efforts are intensified to transfer the foreign nationals who are under detention.
