







Magway Region’s Forest Department organized the monsoon tree plantation ceremony 2023 in the compound of Magway University on 10th June.
The ceremony was held aiming for cooperation of the public in implementing the greening environ and preservation of forest. Magway Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin and departmental officials attended the ceremony.
In his speech, the Chief Minister said that monsoon tree plantation ceremonies are held across the country with the aim to promote cooperation of public in long-term sustainability of forest resourses and preservation of biodiversity.
He added that growing trees and preserving forests can create job opportunities to assist socio-economic development, and green campaigns are being implemented in some countries to respond to climate change.
He stressed that implementation of yearly projects to respond to climate change has become one of the crucial roles and during 2023 in Myanmar, natural disasters brought loses of live and property.
Chief Minister and party gave trees to departmental officials and locals. And they planted a total of 1,000 trees in this ceremony. It’s reported that the 32nd Monsoon Tree Planting Ceremony will held in Magway Region to grow over 2.9 million trees.
At present, over 1.3 million trees have been planted and the rest will be planted by the end of June.
