Environmental Conservation: Forest plantations in Mandalay Region inspected

Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Tun Ohn on 26th August made inspection tour in Mandalay Region. The Deputy Minister oversaw the site of 50-acre village fire wood plantation at Taung Shaw Kan forest reserve in Meikhtila Township, and 9–acre tree plantation along Yangon-Mandalay highway in Mahlaing Township.

During the tour, he instructed the officials to reduce the extraction of forest resources, to establish more forest and fire wood plantations and to conserve the forest in line with the forest management system.

Then, the Deputy Minister arrived at 352-mile post in Tadaoo Township where he inspected the tree plantation and instructed to carry out the tasks in line with the Standard Operating Procedure-SOP for thriving of the trees.

In the afternoon, the Deputy Minister met with officers from the departments of Forest and Dry Zone Greening at Patheingyi and instructed to manage the conservation of natural environment and biodiversities.

Next, the Deputy Minister arrived at Toepwarman Fertilizar Plant in No.1 Industrial Zone of Pyigyitagon Township  and gave instructions on the need to keep work place safety in accordance with the law and by-law of the ministry of labour and to plant trees for greening the  surrounding environment.  

The Deputy Minister also inspected the No-103 Saw Mill of Myanma Timber Enterprise and Department of Environmental Conservation. During inspection, he instructed to provide the services for forest resources and environmental ecosystem systematically.
