Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, U Khin Maung Yi, attended the Ministry's Second Monsoon Season Collective Tree Planting Ceremony for 2025 in the morning on July 15.

The event took place within the 100-acre Ecosystem Restoration Plantation at plot number 30 in Lower Sinthe Protected Forest, Tatkone Township, Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory. First, the Union Minister led the planting of a commemorative Pyinkado or Iron Wood tree at its designated spot.

The Deputy Minister and other attendees then continued to plant their commemorative trees in their assigned locations. Next, the Union Minister toured the planting area, observing and encouraging those participating in the tree-planting efforts.

During this tree-planting ceremony, a total of 350 saplings of 21 different tree species, including Pyinkado, Padauk, Tamalan, Mahogany, and Yamane, were planted as part of a public movement. Subsequently, at the plantation briefing hall, officials presented data on the ecosystem restoration plantations.

The Union Minister emphasized that economic projects within forest areas could damage natural ecosystems. Therefore, he stressed the need for departments and businesses to coordinate and expand the establishment of ecosystem restoration plantations to restore biodiversity and ecosystem services.

He then toured and inspected the plantation. Following this, the Union Minister also inspected the survival rates of the 2024 Village Firewood Plantation (100 acres), the 2025 Village Firewood Plantation (100 acres), and the 2024 Ecosystem Restoration Plantation (100 acres), all established within the Lower Sinthe Protected Forest, and provided necessary instructions.
