Enhancing Overseas Job Opportunities: Skill Training Institute in Dagon Myothit(North)

The Skill Training Institute in Dagon Myothit (North) Township of Yangon Region provides training courses for Overseas Job Guides.

On Saturday, Union Minister for Labour U MyintNaung visited the institute and encouraged the trainees who are going to Korea under the Employment Permanent System (EPS). Over 10,000 workers have been sent to Korea under the EPS program during 2023, for various types of jobs including production, agriculture, livestock, and construction.

In 2024, over 11,000 workers will be selected for the program. The Overseas Job Guide training courses have been conducted at the Skill Training Institute, with over 444,000 workers joining the training from 9th January 2017 to 31st January 2024.

During the visit, the Union Minister oversaw the process for collecting Biographic and Biometric Data through the e-ID system and the issuance of Overseas Workers Identity Cards (OWIC).

The OWIC cards have been issued to individuals who are going for overseas jobs under agency arrangements or self-arrangement. For those overseas workers on leave, the OWIC cards have been issued at the department in Mayangon Township.
