Energy Sector: Union Minister makes inspections in Mandalay

Union Minister for Energy U Ko Ko Lwin made inspections in Mandalay on Sunday. First, at the upper Myanmar oil drilling and exploration control center (Mandalay), the Union Minister heard report on matters including the current work processes, plans and natural gas supply for vehicles.

In his response, the Union Minister highlighted the important role of the center (Mandalay) to increase the production of the necessary oil and gas and the importance of coordination to get from the Myanmar-China Oil and Gas Pipeline. He pledged to provide necessary assistance.

Also, at the Southeast Asia Oil and Gas Pipeline Main Control Center(Mandalay), the Union Minister heard report on number of staff, work processes, distribution of natural gas to factories to generate electricity and earning conditions.

And, the Union Minister said that the Southeast Asia Oil and Gas Pipeline is a beneficial project for both Myanmar and China. He called for closed cooperation as only 50% of the capacity of the pipeline is being used and it would be beneficial for both countries if the capacity is increased.
