A signing ceremony on Domestic Gas Supply Agreement – DGSA between Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE) under the Ministry of Electricity and Energy and PTTEP International Limited of Thailand took place at the Ministry on Friday.
Speaking at the ceremony, Union Minister U Ko Ko Lwin said that the DGSA is a legal contract between Myanmar and Thailand for domestic consumption of natural gas from Mottama Block M-3 in Aung Thinkha area. He stressed that during the tenure of new government, a contract on enhancing crude oil production and domestic consumption of natural gas were remarkable milestone for the Ministry.
Deputy Chief Executive Officer from PTTEP expressed words of thanks and the Domestic Gas Supply Agreement - DGSA was signed. Due to various reasons, Mottama Block M-3 (Aung Thinkha Project), signed in 2004 was delayed and discussions were resumed in 2023.
The natural gas from the M-3 will be used for only in domestic electricity generation and will be distributed especially in Yangon and Ayeyawady regions. Upon completion of the project in 2028, necessary natural gas will be distributed to fertilizer production factories.
