






Union Minister Jeng Phang Naw Taung, Chairman of the Myanmar Olympic Committee and Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs and Hotel and Tourism, along with Director-General of the Sports and Physical Education Department U Nyan Zaw Oo and responsible officials, visited and encouraged the sports teams preparing to compete in the 13th ASEAN Para Games at the Myanmar Paralympic Sports Federation in North Dagon Township, Yangon, on the afternoon of December 29.
First, the Union Minister and his delegation arrived at the Myanmar Paralympic Sports Federation. They met with the coaches and athletes who are currently in camp training to participate in 11 sports at the 13th ASEAN Para Games, which will include 19 sports and be held in Thailand from January 20 to 26, 2026.
They warmly greeted them, offered encouragement, and delivered motivating words. Subsequently, the Union Minister and officials inspected the assistive devices to be used in competition and the displays of sport-specific competition uniforms set up in the meeting hall of the Myanmar Paralympic Sports Federation.
He urged the responsible officials, administrators, coaches, and athletes of the Myanmar Paralympic Sports Federation to strive with all their might to win medals at the 13th ASEAN Para Games, bring glory to the nation through sports, and uphold the honor of their motherland.
To welcome and honor the 78th Anniversary Independence Day, the opening ceremony of the Thihadipa Sports Hall was held at the Thihadipa Sports Hall in Thanlyin Township, Yangon Region. Chairman of the Myanmar Olympic Committee Union Minister Jeng Phang Naw Taung, Patron of the Yangon Region Sports and Physical Education Committee and Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and responsible officials attended the event.
According to the ceremony agenda, the ribbon-cutting to open the Thihadipa Sports Hall was performed by the Deputy Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, the Yangon Region Minister for Natural Resources, Chairman of the Yangon Region Sports and Physical Education Committee and Region Minister for Social Affairs, the Director-General of the Sports and Physical Education Department and the Chairman of the Thanlyin District Management and Administration Committee.
Chairman of the Myanmar Olympic Committee Union Minister Jeng Phang Naw Taung and Patron of the Yangon Region Sports and Physical Education Committee and Chief Minister U Soe Thein pressed a button to unveil the Thihadipa Sports Hall signboard.
They then sprinkled scented water on the commemorative plaque, followed by a group commemorative photo session. According to the second part of the program, MOC Chairman Union Minister Jeng Phang Naw Taung, delivered opening remarks. Following that, Patron of the Yangon Region Sports and Physical Education Committee and Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein delivered remarks.
Afterwards, the Chairman of the Yangon Region Sports and Physical Education Committee and Region Minister for Social Affairs presented a commemorative gift for the opening of the Thihadipa Sports Hall. It was received respectively by MOC Chairman Union Minister Jeng Phang Naw Taung, Patron of the Yangon Region Sports and Physical Education Committee and Chief Minister U Soe Thein and Deputy Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Htein Lin. Subsequently, Mettle Zone Co., Ltd., the constructor of the Thihadipa Sports Hall, handed over the project documents, which were received by the Director of the Yangon Region Sports and Physical Education Department.
Afterwards, performances were presented by groups from Fitness Dance, Myanmar Thaing, Taekwondo, Gymnastics and Traditional Chinlone sports. MOC Chairman Union Minister, and Yangon Region Chief Minister awarded an honorarium of 1.5 million kyats each to the performing groups, it’s reported.
