






Artists from the Myanmar Motion Picture Organization, the Myanmar Music Association and Myanmar Thabin Association as well as former selected Myanmar football players visited Rakhine State on Wednesday.
The visit aims to make donations and stage a one-day performance to comfort those affected by the extremely severe cyclonic storm 'MOCHA'. Over 150 million kyats in proceeds from the Charity Concert and over 90 million kyats from the Charity Football Tournament have been collected to make donations to the areas affected by the cyclone.
Chairman, Myanmar Motion Picture Organization,Kyi Soe Tun said " Among the proceeds gained from the concert and football tournament, we spent 20 million kyats each on purchasing relief items. Our organization also made a cash donation of 30 million kyats right after the cyclone. Additionally, we donated 10 million kyats through the Yangon Region Government. In total, the Myanmar Motion Picture Organization has contributed about 200 million kyats in donations. We hope that our audience will applaud our efforts and say well done for our contributions."
Chairman, Organizing Committee for Charity Football Tournament ,Nay Lin Oo said" We were able to raise over 95 million kyats from a 2-day football tournament. Among them, we spent 20 million kyats to purchase construction materials and some other relief items. These purchased items and the remaining cash will be donated to the areas affected by the cyclone. We are truly satisfied with being able to make these donations."
This program is also designed to encourage those who are making efforts for rehabilitation works in the state after the storm. Cyclone Mocha, which mainly lashed Rakhine State on the 14th of May, destroyed homes and infrastructure and caused casualties.
